My sign-in link is expired or invalid
Sign-in links and codes work once, expire after an hour, and stop working as soon as a newer one is sent.
Steps
- 1Go to the sign-in page.
- 2On the website, press Email me a sign-in link instead, then Email me a sign-in link. In the app, press Email me a sign-in code instead, then Email me a sign-in code.
- 3Open the newest email straight away and press Sign in, or type the code.
Note: when a link has expired or been used, you simply land back on Welcome back with no error. That is the sign it did not work.
What makes a link stop working
- It is more than an hour old.
- It was already used once. Some email security scanners open links before you do, which can use them up. If that keeps happening, use Continue with Google or set a password with Forgot your password?.
- A newer link or code was sent after it. Only the newest one works.
- Links are not tied to a device. You can ask on your phone and open it on your computer.
Your seller's invite link
- Seller invite links last an hour too. If your seller says the link does not work, press Resend invite on the listing's Clients card, or ask them to request a link themselves on the sign-in page. See My seller's link doesn't work.
- A resent invite cancels any link the seller asked for themselves, and the other way round. Tell them to use the newest email.
If that doesn't work
- In the phone app, a tapped link opens your phone's browser and signs you in there, not in the app. Use the 8-digit code instead.
- Your password sign-in fails too: press Forgot your password?. See I forgot my password.
